US Anti China Congressman Demands to Split TikTok and ByteDance

According to the Lianhe Zaobao, citing Bloomberg on September 20, Josh Hawley, a Republican senator of the United States and a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, sent a letter to U.S.
Treasury Secretary Yellen, asking TikTok to cut off all ties with Chinese enterprises and force ByteDance to spin off TikTok.
Holly said that Vanessa Pappas, TikTok's chief operating officer, said earlier in his testimony that TikTok's engineers in China can indeed view and obtain the data of American users, but the company has not taken measures to ensure that these employees are not members of the CPC.
