TikTok may not give up live delivery in the United States after all.
According to the Financial Times, the company is seeking to cooperate with its partner TalkShopLive to launch live shopping in North America.
TalkShopLive is a live shopping platform in Los Angeles.
As pointed out by the Financial Times, Wal Mart and Microsoft's MSN and other companies use it to hold live shopping.
It is reported that through cooperation, TikTok can make use of the technology of TalkShopLive to allow creators to hold live shopping on TikTok, while allowing brands to choose to play streaming media on their own websites at the same time.
As early as July, a report in the Financial Times pointed out that TikTok's test results in the UK were not satisfactory, so it planned to reduce the scale of live shopping development in the United States and Europe.
Although the company's transaction with TalkShopLive is said to have not been finalized, it may mean that TikTok has not stopped its live shopping program -- at least not in North America.
The Financial Times said that if TikTok really cooperates, live shopping may "cooperate with large brands next month", which is just in time for the holiday season.
TikTok has been exploring shopping functions since last year, and recently launched a special store tag for Indonesian users in the app.
In markets outside Asia, live shopping has not yet started.
TikTok's Chinese sister app Ditto has been successful in QVC style live broadcasting.
However, this has not stopped TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Amazon from trying this feature outside the region.
Even Facebook has tried live shopping, but the company announced in August that it would close the function to focus on Reels (but Instagram still has live shopping).
TikTok said in a statement to the Financial Times, Its "expansion plans in other markets are always demand oriented, constantly exploring new and different options to best serve communities, creators and businesses around the world.
These include exploring ways to collaborate with different types of partners, which is an important part of our exploration of one-stop e-commerce solutions.
Our current focus is still on countries providing TikTok Shop in Southeast Asia and the United Kingdom." The Financial Times pointed out that the two sides are still discussing the content of cooperation and have not signed a formal agreement.
