Bianniushi reported on December 28 that, according to the doctoral advisor of Fenghuang.com, the executive department of the US House of Representatives said on Tuesday that the popular short video application TikTok had been banned from all devices managed by the US House of Representatives.
The House of Representatives is trying to emulate an upcoming law that prohibits the use of TikTok on U.S.
government equipment.
The Chief Executive Officer (CAO) of the House of Representatives said in a message to all members and staff on Tuesday that TikTok "has a high risk due to a series of security problems" and must be removed from all equipment managed by the House of Representatives.
According to the message, anyone with TikTok on the device will be contacted to delete it and will be prohibited from downloading the application in the future.
Before the introduction of this new regulation, the US state government has taken a series of measures to prohibit TikTok, a unit of ByteDance, from being used on government equipment.
As of last week, 19 states in the United States have blocked the application on government managed devices, and at least some of its functions have been banned because of security issues.
TikTok has not commented.
In addition, U.S.
lawmakers have proposed to ban TikTok nationwide.
