TikTok announced Tuesday that the company is introducing a new feature that allows users to see why they recommend a particular video in the For You Feed.
TikTok said that this new function aims to bring more users' right to know about the content recommended in For You Feeds.
To understand why a video is recommended to you, click the sharing panel and select the question mark icon named "Why this video".
From there, you can see why a video was recommended to you.
You may be told that you see a video because of your interaction, such as the content you watch, like or share, comments posted or search behavior.
Or you may be told that because the account you follow likes this content, and because the video was recently released in your region, or the content is very popular in your region.
In a blog post, the company said: "This function is one of many ways we try to bring meaningful transparency to people using our platform, and it is based on some steps we have taken to achieve this goal.
Looking ahead, we will continue to expand this function to bring more granularity and transparency to content recommendation.".
TikTok's personalized For You page algorithm is largely behind the success of the application, because it can show users what they may find interesting.
However, this algorithm system is not perfect, because you may encounter a video that is not suitable for you.
In this case, you can now learn more about why the video appears on your service page.
Although TikTok has explained its recommendation work, today's new features provide users with additional specific backgrounds to explain why a specific video is displayed to them.
